Get Your Bike Security-Marked in Harrow for Free!

Actually, that title is rather misleading. Harrow is one of the few London Borough which doesn’t have any kind of Police-funded cycle marking scheme in operation over the next week or so, which is both a surprise and a disappointment, given that our Borough Commander is such a keen cyclist. If you do want your cycle marked, you’ll need to take it up to Halfords in Barnet on Thursday 22nd December between 10.00am and 2.00pm at either of:

  • Halfords, The Hyde, Colindale NW9
  • Halfords, Silk Bridge, NW9 7TH

There are plenty more events, right across London over the coming week or so – a full list is here – which may be more convenient to you.

Officers will be using BikeRegister, the MPS preferred cycle register to register bikes and will also give London’s cyclists advice on how to lock up their bikes securely in order to deter cycle theft.

The MPS have recently selected BikeRegister as the preferred cycle register for London. By registering the bike, it helps the police and retailers identify and verify the legitimate owner of bikes that have been stolen or are being resold. Over 23,000 bikes have been marked and registered onto BikeRegister by the MPS since June 2010.

Officers will be marking bikes throughout December.
