Man guilty of robbery on 140 bus

Hassan Ali, aged 20 of Worple Way, Harrow was found guilty of robbery at Harrow Crown Court on Thursday 27 October and given 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, a 12 months community order, 100 hours of unpaid work and a 3 months curfew.

Ali, robbed a 19 year old man of cash and an earring whilst they were travelling on a 140 bus at 5.55 am on Sunday 26 June. Police were called by the bus driver and the victim was able to give them an account of the robbery that took place on the upper deck of the bus. An off-duty police officer, gave reporting officers a description of three men he had chased off the bus and who had run towards Grange Road, South Harrow.

Three men matching the description of the suspects were sighted in nearby Cowan Road, and officers managed to detain two of them, who were later released. A third man, seen acting suspiciously on Northolt Road, was later identified by the victim and the off-duty officer as being the third suspect (Hassan Ali), who was subsequently arrested and charged with robbery.
