Phoney Phone Snatch Results in £80 fine in Harrow

mbile_phoneOn Sunday 13 October, a 25-year-old woman reported at Harrow police station that her phone had been snatched from her, by an unknown male, three days earlier whilst in Harrow town centre.

From the investigation of PC Hogan (Harrow Crime Squad) it transpired that the woman had made up the allegation to support a mobile phone insurance claim. She was reprimanded and issued with an £80 fine for wasting police time.

Acting Detective Sergeant Wayne Blackwood said:  “Harrow police promote total professionalism and provide a tailored service to genuine victims of crime. However, we will not tolerate a waste of police time and will always be robust in our dealings with those who make false reports. We are totally committed to ensuring that Harrow remains one of the safest boroughs in London.”
