Rain Doesn’t Keep the Burglars Away from South Harrow

The Metropolitan Police reported this morning that over the wet and windy weekend, there were fifteen house burglaries, most of them in South Harrow. It seems that the most common method of entry was through uPVC doors not being properly locked.

As a reminder:

  • When you’re closed the door, push the handle up. This will normally extend security bolts into the top, bottom and sides of the door frame to make it more secure.
  • Lock the door from the inside, using the key.
  • Remove the key, but make it easily accessible should you need to leave the house in an emergency. It needn’t be hidden away, but simply out of sight/reach should a burglar look through your letterbox, or attempt to remove it using a long stick or fishing rod through your letterbox.

If you have any information to share on these burglaries, please call the Police 101 non-emergency number, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
