Best of the Bunch

Newton Farm Nursery, Infant and Junior School, in South Harrow is also celebrating after achieving the fourth best results in the country in this year’s Key Stage 2 assessments.

All of its pupils achieved level four or above in maths and English, making it the top performing school in London. Head teacher Rekha Bhakoo said: “We’re thrilled to have achieved such an excellent result again. Our success is down to many factors but I think the enthusiasm of our staff, parents and pupils is the most important thing. Everyone works very hard as a team and the pupils always want to do better. When we told the children we were the fourth best in the country they said they wanted to be number one next year!”

An impressive 77% of Harrow’s primary school pupils achieved level four or above in the key stage 2 English and maths tests – 4% above the national average.

Official results for the exams, sat by 11 year olds in May, were published in December. Nationally, the percentage of pupils achieving level four in both maths and English was 73%.

Other top performing schools in Harrow included Moriah Jewish Day School (96%), St Anselm’s Catholic Primary School (93%), Glebe Primary School (92%) and Cannon Lane Junior School (92%).
