Do you know Mr V398 HAC? He’s yet another selfish parker!

Our Selfish Parker’s campaign seems to be gathering a lot of attraction on Twitter this week. For those new to us, it’s all about us snapping photos of drivers who stop, park or unload their cars on yellow school zig-zags, rather than park a few more yards away safely, and then publishing them here on iharrow.com.

You, too, can join. All you need to do is send us a photo showing a car parked outside a school on yellow zig-zags, and tell us whereabouts you saw it and the time and date you took the photo. Just make sure that the zig-zags are operational (always marked by a yellow sign, advising of the hours – often 08.30 – 09.30 and 15.00 – 16.30), that the car in question is stopped to unload or parked, and that you take no risks yourself.

Today, we’ve got a blue VW – probably a VW Passat), V398 HAC, stopped to unload outside Welldon Park Infant and Nursery School at 08.51 on September 18, 2012.

Parking or stopping on yellow zig-zags outside schools is generally frowned upon by parents of small children, teachers, and the community at large. The zig-zags are there for a reason: to stop people parking in dangerous locations.

Rule 238 of the Highway Code: You MUST NOT wait or park, or stop to set down and pick up passengers, on school entrance markings (see ‘Road markings’) when upright signs indicate a prohibition of stopping.
