Harrow West Resident selected as Finalist for National Film Competition

Patrick Ryder from Harrow West has been selected as a finalist in the Parliamentary competition, FILM THE HOUSE.

FILM THE HOUSE is a national competition for aspiring UK filmmakers, directors and script writers that aims to raise political awareness of the importance of copyright and intellectual property to the film industry. Categories include drama/thriller/action, comedy, music video, documentary, scripts, and a separate category for under 18’s.

Amateur film-makers were invited to enter their films into the competition earlier this year. Members of Parliament subsequently nominated the best submissions from their constituency and these were presented to a panel of industry experts who determined the finalists.

Patrick Ryder entered the competition with his film ‘Cerberus’ which is a story of a man named Coben who has no past and no identity, his only memory is of the future.

Gareth Thomas, MP for Harrow West, said: “I am thrilled for Patrick that he has made the final of the FILM THE HOUSE competition. Patrick came to see me in July to discuss his film and I was overwhelmed by his enthusiasm and dedication to film making. Patrick thoroughly deserves his place in the final and I wish him the very best of luck and look forward to seeing more work from him in the future!”

The winners of FILM THE HOUSE will be announced at the Award Ceremony at the House of Commons on Tuesday 30th October. Winners will have their film screened on the House of Commons terrace, with prizes including studio tours, work experience, and private screenings for friends and family.
