London Fire Brigade Consultation – Apathy in Harrow

The London Fire Brigade held a consultation event last night at Harrow’s Civic Centre, to explain about their proposed plans for the Capital’s fire service: a few cuts to stations, staff and appliances here and there, but with an extra appliance for some boroughs, including Harrow.

So, how many members of the public turned up to see what was going on?

Not even the Harrow Council for Justice seemed to have made an appearance or, if they did, didn’t identify themselves as such.

Naturally, the Fire Brigade Union are up in arms about the cuts (“…as well as closing 12 stations, the mayor wants to remove 18 engines and slash 520 frontline firefighter posts….” they report), and they brought along an appliance as a mark of protest, which they then parked outside the Civic Centre in a disabled parking space before nipping off for a crafty fag.
