Monahan’s Cafe, Northolt Road – up for sale?

We spotted an advert in the local free paper this week about Monahan’s Cafe at the lower end of the Northolt Road being up for sale. The details:

Fully refurbished ground floor premises approximately 660 sq ft comprising of a fully fitted kitchen, internal seat for 44 covers and an additional 450 sq ft (approx) forecourt seating area. Rent £15,000 pa. 10 year FRI lease granted in 2010 thus having nine years unexpired. 5 yearly rent reviews and tenants break clause in May 2015.

I don’t know if this indicates that the owner is finding it difficult to survive in this location – local residents will recall it’s directly opposite one of South Harrow’s well-established cafes – the Tasty Grill, formerly the Sunshine Cafe. Perhaps it’s just a case of the wrong place at the wrong time?

There still seem to be a number of commercial properties being marketed in the Northolt Road – you can see a partial(?)  list here – which include a hairdressers, a take-away, a milkshake bar, a off-licence, an Indian restaurant, an additional cafe, an Asian Grocery, a restaurant with banqueting suite, and an outdoor-wear shop.
