Ocado Appoints New Staff for Morrisons.com Trial in Harrow

morrisons_logoAs part of its preliminary move into London, leading supermarket Morrisons trials its highly-anticipated online shopping service across Harrow from today; an initiative which has already allowed partners Ocado to create 50 new jobs around the delivery area.

Intended to determine how these deliveries can be further rolled out across the entire capital, the trial will span more than 250 sq kms of North West London.

Almost 400,000 households across the Watford, Harrow, Ruislip, Hillingdon, Ealing and Hounslow areas are now able to shop online for the first time from http://www.morrisons.com/

On the move, Simon Thompson, managing director for online food at Morrisons said: “It’s an exciting time as we look to move into London. We’re hoping that this initial launch will help us determine how and when we can offer the service to even more of our customers in the capital.”

“Depending on the scheme’s success, we’re also hoping that even more jobs will be created at the Ocado facility.”

Morrisons online delivery service made its debut in the Midlands this January and extended into Yorkshire the following month. As it now branches into Harrow, the supermarket will look to maintain its staggering 95% success rate for delivering on-time and its competitive product substitution rate of less than 2%.

All delivery slots across the area will be made available for just £1 for the first month and, as part of Morrisons ‘Great Service Everyday’ approach, Harrow customers can expect one hour time slots and the opportunity to check the freshness of the products before accepting them.

morrisons_home_deliveryHarrow residents can visit www.morrisons.com to determine whether their home is located within the serviced area.
