Wembley Central Community Art Winner Announced

St. Modwen Homes – the national housebuilder behind the Wembley Central apartment scheme in Central Square – has announced the winner of their Community Art Competition in Wembley.

Groups including local youth clubs and senior citizens’ associations collected canvasses and paints and had just a month to complete the artwork. The entries could feature any design and use a variety of materials, the only stipulation being that the artwork must only use the colours of the Wembley Central logo (magenta pink, lime green, yellow, red, white and black).

Margaret Constant, supervisor at Smash Youth Club added: “Activities such as the community art competition provide a great opportunity for young people in the local area to get involved in fun, team-building exercises which break down barriers and develop relationships between elderly communities and young people whilst creating something they can be proud of – keeping adolescents and young people off the streets.

The artworks were judged by Cllr Adeyeye, along with St. Modwen Homes’ sales and marketing director Neil Simpson and professional interior designer, Amanda Stanhope. The winning artwork, a stunning painting which drew heavily on classical architecture whilst experimenting with form and perspective, was created by amateur artist Marta Pieregonczuk, of local group Brent Artists’ Resource in Brent.
