A Walk in Perivale Wood – April 9, 2012

Looking to get our for some fresh air this Easter Monday? Perivale Wood Local Nature Reserve is a 27 acre area of ancient oak woodland in West London. The reserve has a rich variety of habitats; and it is kept locked to protect this valuable environment and its wildlife. A special permission has been granted to Harrow Health Walks for a private guided walk in the reserve on Easter Monday April 9, 2012.

ROUTE PROFILE: We will walk from South Harrow station to Sudbury Hill station; along the edge of Horsenden Hill, before reaching Perivale Wood in an hour or so. We will then walk in the woods for another hour; followed by refreshments to buy at the hut.

ESTIMATED TIME: 2 ½ to 3 hours including a tea and coffee break at the end of the walk.

MEET: 10:00AM South Harrow station (note the 10:00AM start instead of the usual 10:30 start)

REFRESHMENTS: Tea and coffee and some snacks will be available to buy after the walk at the reserve’s hut. Bring your own picnic lunch if you like.


  • Perivale tube station on the Central Line is close by.
  • Bus 297 to Alperton for another bus to South Harrow.
  • Bus 297 to Wembley Park tube station for onward journey on the Metropolitan Line.
  • Walk to Sudbury Hill and take tube replacement bus service.
  • Walk back to South Harrow.

Please note there are engineering works on the Piccadilly Line Acton Town to Uxbridge branch on the day.

BEE ALERT: Please be warned that there are wild honey bees in the reserve. Please let the leader know at the start of the walk if you have had an allergic reaction from bee stings.
