Susan Says: An Outstanding Medical Centre

An Outstanding Medical Centre

I would like to extend massive congratulations to the Elliott Hall Medical Centre. I have just heard the fantastic news that they have received an overall outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Not only has the Medical Centre received an outstanding rating in all five assessment criteria but they are the first practice in London to receive this prestigious recognition. This is testament to the Doctors, Nurses and staff who work tirelessly to deliver an excellent service.

Having used the Medical Centre since it opened I have always held it in high regard and would like to say a personal thank you to all of the dedicated staff. I am very proud – keep up the great work!

Of course it achieved outstanding status – it is Hatch End!!. I am sure they have a nice clientele and the doctors have time to spend with each patient. I am not taking away their outstanding achievement. Well done to them. But, not many unemployed people, or social housing blocks in Hatch End are there? Try medical centres in Harrow/Wealdstone and the picture is not so rosy. Sheer numbers of people using these medcial facilities makes it difficult to get an appointment. I am a busy working mum and they can never fit me in. On the rare occasion I go, I cannot tell you how long the queues are and almost always full of mums and kids. In desperation, I have now enlisted with a private GP service so that my family and I can be seen when needed. The joke is, that you often see a GP from your own surgery but after hours and I pay for it alongside the higher rate of tax and NI contributions I pay every month. Maybe the Hatch End medical centre could share how they have achieved outstanding status and lead the way for other failing medical centres in and around Harrow?

Hearty Congratulations to the Elliott Hall Medical,Centre, for their unique achievement and for being the first practice in the whole of London to top all others and provide a service second to none for the public it serves. They have done Harrow proud. All this with blood, sweat and tears and tireless dedication by all those who work in it.They are a wonderful role model for the rest of practices, not just Harrow-wide but London-wide.Many would do well to learn how to do this, with their help.

I am sure there are some other good medical centres in Harrow, albeit not as excellent as this one.All are not in “well-heeled” areas as suggested by irritated.Of course, hugely changing demographics do present challenges of varied sorts.

So,instead of knocking those lagging behind, sometimes through no fault of their own,may I humbly suggest they get in touch with this winner of all winners and learn how they may deliver a better service to their clients.Let’s just learn to CELEBRATE our successes and share them generously with others.

Happy Easter to all of you.

Sorry to ask this Sonoo but do you really expect that the poorly-performing practices would *really* ask Elliott Hall how they did it? Sadly it is a totally unrealistic expectation

Also I do hope that Susan Hall is not directed related to Elliott Hall – or I would suspect collusion..

You sound very cynical about Susan Hall though I can’t understand why. Also, why should any practice be too proud to find out from Elliott Hall how to do better? Please educate me.

    1. Someonewhocares

The first part was simply humour as though Elliot Hall was a person’s name.

It is not about a practice being ‘too proud’ to learn from other practices: Don’t you think the excellent one should provide some (out of hours) seminars then for other practices on exactly how they achieved this status and share it? Perhaps you should suggest this to them.

well how absolutely lovely for the good residents of hatch end no dodging of the notorious pee stained rouge mattresses here old bean or pretending not to see the grubby out stretched hand of the street drinker as one hopscotches past the canine excrement deposited on the potholed pavement good heavens no one just does not encounter such nastiness in susie’s little oasis i would hate to use the terms nepotism or cronyism but one does become sceptical when the good councilor is so silent on massive issues but then finds her voice in support of a doctors just round the corner from home hhmmmm i must say i thought that cllr hall had taken my advice on her pr photograph really not a current one sue and terribly vampiric like i am beginning to wonder perhaps a picture really can paint a thousand words.

Why oh why can we not be nice to each other and just give credit where credit is due.Come on folks,be good sports and celebrate this fantastic success.

    1. red mirror

oh yes lets all live in a cocoon with our eyes shut and ignore the contrast oh yes yes a one season world for all . When all benefit then that can be properly termed a success so come on sonoo dare to look into the abyss of the dark side of the boro.

One must do that too and deal with the issues.I do that all the time in the course of my duties but that does not mean not seeing anything good or beautiful when it presents.Otherwise I would be too depressed to be able to function at all.Life is full of ups and downs—a reality for most of us.I choose to focus differently to some.

or just filter out the blandishments and negative side of society i too deal with real folk on a daily basis and do not have the luxury of pretending i cant see the crap all around me yes i remain positive but will always highlight that which needs highlighting as i have stated before we must all integrate every aspect of ourselves individually to be fully holistically functioning beings and collectively to be a fully integrated society so yes smell the flowers walk on the grass listen to the birds singing love it all but then see the tramp the drunk the hooligan the rubbish the decay and if possible offer a solution give a hand ponder that’s all i am trying to communicate sonoo ok?a healthy remedy.

At last a good news story in Harrow. it would be interesting to hear the details of what made the centre outstanding so patients at other medical centres could ask for the same quality of care.

  9. Sonoo Malkani

Thanks Concerned Harrovian for your measured words.
