Harrow Community Action Launch – June 18, 2014

hca_logoThose interested in the Voluntary & Community Sector (VCS) are invited to attend the launch of Harrow Community Action on the 18th June between 5:30pm and 8:30 pm at Harrow Council, Committee Rooms 1 & 2.

Harrow Community Action (HCA) is a consortium working to strengthen the voluntary & community sector. It’s board of directors consist of representatives of many different (small and big) VCS organisations including; Age UK Harrow, Anti-Racist Alliance Trust, Carramea, Harrow Association of Disabled People, Harrow in Business, Harrow Inter Faith Council, Harrow Mencap, Harrow Women’s Centre, Mind in Harrow, Third Sector Potential and Voluntary Action Harrow.

Speaking about Harrow Community Action, Nick Hurd MP said “As Minister for Civil Society and local MP, I believe that the creation of such not-for-profit organisations are an asset to the local community. Through working in the voluntary and community sectors, the infrastructural support that HCA provides will become invaluable for members, in order to create a stronger sense of local identity, engagement and collaboration in these sectors. I would like to pay tribute to all those who have shown commitment, time and effort in building the foundations of HCA, which I believe demonstrates the great communitarian spirit of Harrow as well as its wider role in our country’s ‘Big Society’. I wish HCA every success in the future and look forward to collaborating further with HCA.”

At the launch event next week attendees will have a chance to meet the directors of Harrow Community Action as well as the current Voluntary and Community Sector Forum Representatives.

Rachel Wright, Secretary of Harrow Community Action and Director of Voluntary Action Harrow said “The launch event is a chance for local voluntary and community sector groups to learn more about HCA and how their organisation can be involved in partnership bidding and funding. This is a perfect opportunity to find out more about the different types of membership and see what is more suitable for their organisation.”
