Harrow’s sports organisations seek volunteers – April 28, 2012

On Saturday 28th of April from 1.30-4.00pm Voluntary Action Harrow will be hosting a Sports Volunteer Recruitment Fair at Victoria Hall, Sheepcote Road, Harrow, HA1 2JE. The free fair is for members of the public who are interested in volunteering. A variety of sports clubs will have a stall and will be looking to recruit volunteer for roles within their club. Local clubs from football, tennis, disabled swimming, martial arts, rugby, fitness, netball to Koorfball will be looking to recruit potential coaches, administrators, event helpers, treasurers, website editors and marketing help amongst other roles.

Voluntary Action Harrow are organising the event to help sports clubs increase their capacity which is a hot topic with the 2012 Olympics starting in just a few months time and to raise awareness of volunteer opportunities in local sports groups within Harrow. The event has been funded by Team London, part of the Mayor of London’s programme to increase volunteering in London. Voluntary Action Harrow have been working with Sports Groups over the past few months helping clubs in developing volunteer opportunities and on the 28th of April sports groups will have the opportunity to recruit new volunteers for these roles.

Voluntary Action Harrow invite residents to come along to this free event and learn more about volunteering opportunities and to find out more about sport within Harrow. Many of the Sports groups attending are excited about the possibility of recruiting local people and will have plenty of information to give out on the day.
